One Evening in Montpellier

by Michaela

While spending our summer holidays in the south of France last month, we made it to visit Montpellier, the capital of Languedoc-Roussillon. We spent a pleasant evening in this young, vibrating and fastest growing city of the region and here are some pictures that I managed to make quite quickly.

Montpellier

The Place de la Comédie is a central square of Montpellier with cafés and restaurants, dominated by the Opera house from 18th century

Nebylo by to správné francouzské město, kdyby tu nebyl kolotoč :)

A carousel can’t be missing in a true French city 🙂

Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe built in 17th century in the honor of Luis XIV. is a copy of the famous Arc de Triomphe from Paris. It stands on a place where rampart gates to the old city used to be.

Get lost in the tiny streets...

Have a drink or something to eat in the streets of old center (Ecusson) – it is so alive in the evening! I can recommend a tapas bar Take five, where the service is very nice and the owner selects good wines, he can tell you exactly what kind of herbs is in each tapas or anything you need to know about the selected wine.

A walk in the streets of the old city center (Ecusson) made a romantic dot after a nice day spent in this pleasant city. I have to admit that (and maybe this is also thanks to the tapas eaten) the historic center reminds me Barcelona somehow – the restaurants and bars are full of people sitting on the terrace having a chat.
