Welcome to 1001 Voyages Gourmands – a place devoted to my passion for good food, traveling and photography. I am happy you ended up here and hope you will find some inspiration! 🙂 My name is Michaela and I live in the Belgian Limburg together with my dear Steven and our daughter Adeline. I am originally from the Czech Republic but spent the last decade in the country of chocolate pralines and beer (concretely in the multicultural Brussels).
I have always loved writing, whether it was a journal to keep our memories or simply essays at school or writing event wrap-ups at work later on. And so when people kept asking for recommendations about places I visited or recipes of meals and cakes I prepared for them, the idea of writing a blog in order to share the information and pictures with a wider audience came to my mind. And so founding a blog sounded like the right thing. And so 1001 Voyages Gourmands was born. Back in 2015, I started to write the blog both in Czech and French as these were my main languages at that time and hence the French name of the blog. But later on, I switched from French to English to make the blog more international.
I believe in two things:
First, food is essential to life and therefore you´d better make it good! I love discovering new tastes, adapting existing and developing new (vegetarian) recipes. On this blog, you will discover yummy vegetarian recipes and I will show you that vegetarian cuisine is not boring and can be very tasty! And because I am addicted to baking, there are loads of gourmet recipes for sweet tooth as well. You can easily navigate through these via the Recipe Index.
Second, if we were supposed to stay in one place the whole life, we would have roots instead of feet. I love to prepare all my trips, discover new places from cities to landscapes or simply guide my friends and family around Belgium or my home country and on the blog, I share my experience and photographs. If you are looking for some travel tips or ideas for your next holidays, focus on the Travel section.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope my blog inspires you and that you will enjoy reading it!! And please, do not hesitate to drop a comment wherever you feel like, I always welcome feedback!
Disclaimer: I am not a native English speaker, so there might be some imperfections in the English version, but I do my best so that you still enjoy the reading 🙂
